Declaring a device lost

Declare lost on the badge, People or OBU Distribution row menu.
A device that cannot be found is written off as missing. It can be declared lost from Sent, not yet confirmed, With contractor or On its way back.
The dialog names the device by its serial, not its printed number, and says what the action does: "The device is written off as missing and stops working at every gate. Its last custodian is kept on the record so the loss stays attributable."
What happened is required — where it was last seen, and who had it.
Do not confuse this with Report lost on the card-status menu in Registry. Report lost changes the card's status so it stops opening gates; Declare lost is the custody write-off — it removes the device from the estate and leaves the loss attributed to its last custodian. A card that is reported lost and then found can be reinstated; a device declared lost cannot.
Note — a contractor does not declare a loss themselves. They report it as an incident and TotalEnergies records it.
