The mobile gate app

The portal is where TPAS is administered and reported on. The gate reader app — installed on the phone as TPAS RFID Reader — is where the gatekeeper records who actually crosses. It is built for one job at the barrier:

One vehicle, one direction, everyone on board

by its number plate, add each person in it by their badge, and send the lot as a single record — an entry when clocking in, an exit when clocking out.

Everything the app sends lands in the same TPAS the portal reads. A crossing recorded on the phone appears in the portal's access reports (Reports) alongside every other.

Who can do this

A TPAS account with a gate role that an administrator has assigned to a gate (Adding a user). The app has no gate picker: it works at the gate your account is assigned to, and nowhere else.

The app runs on Android 8 or later, with a web browser installed (the sign-in page opens in it). It is designed for the gate's 5-inch handheld, held upright.
