When something goes wrong
Who can do this
A TPAS account with a gate role that an administrator has assigned to a gate (Adding a user). The app has no gate picker: it works at the gate your account is assigned to, and nowhere else.
When something goes wrong
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing happens, or the spinner stops without a message | No connection to TPAS. | Look at the pill. If it reads Offline, find signal and try again. If it reads Online, try again once; if it keeps failing, check with the control room. |
| A red message at the bottom of the screen | TPAS refused the request, and says why. | Read it before it disappears — it is the reason. |
| Back on the welcome screen, unasked | Your session expired. | Get started and sign in again. Anything not yet sent must be re-entered. |
| Gate assignment needed / Gate unavailable | Your account or your gate. | See Signing in. |
| Scan plate will not open the camera | Camera permission was refused. | Select Allow camera access, or type the plate on Enter plate. |
| The receipt's recorded is lower than the number you sent | Someone was out of sequence. | See Sending, and the receipt. |
Nothing is saved for later
The app does not store anything to send when signal returns. A session that could not be sent exists only on the screen in front of you. Do not leave it — keep trying until the receipt appears. If the barrier cannot wait, write the crossing down and record it afterwards in the portal (Recording a manual entry).
What the app does not do yet
So that nobody waits for a feature that is not there:
- Read badges by radio. Badge numbers are typed; the handheld's trigger does nothing.
- Settings. The sliders button on the home screen is not connected.
- Sign out. See Signing in.
- Work offline. See When something goes wrong.
- Sound or vibrate on a verdict. Watch the screen.
- Show its version number.
